Not sure where this came from - Showtime made a strategic decision to move away from movies in favor of original programming (for years they owned the pay TV rights for Paramount and Lionsgate but elected to not renew). Epyx is the more or less a result of that decision. Moreover, given that a cable subscription will be required to use Epyx.com, this would hardly qualify as disintermediation! It's just a bundling strategy, probably intended to reduce subscriber churn.

It's all Flash streaming... meaning that expect the same quality issues/ network errors ever present in Hulu during prime time. I'm ok accepting a service disruption during a TV show, but during a Movie? Pass.

Epix need only read the feedback about the Silverlight Netflix player to get a glimpse of their near future.
