We Choose The Moon: One Small Step for Historical Reenactments

Picture 2This falls under the category of totally awesome. Today, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the moon landing, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum has partnered with AOL for a real-time reenactment of the Apollo 11 space mission, using video clips, live-streaming audio, photos and various social networks to make the event come alive for us modern space nerds. Yep, the astronauts and Houston all have Twitter accounts, whose tweets match with real transmissions from the mission.

As of writing, Stage 5 (in which the command service module separates) has just commenced. Man walks on the moon in 99 hours. Stay tuned at wechoosethemoon.com.

  • If this younger generation of “doubting Thomas’ and naysayers” spent as much energy investigating important things as they do on believing the lies generated by ignorant skeptics, this world of “theirs” wouldn’t be in such trouble. If the mentality of the 60s had been as paranoid about lies as these kids are today, the Moon Landing MIssion would have included footage of them SETTING UP cameras used to FILM the module dismount and flag setting. I feel so sorry for you all. You’re only wasting time by putting doubt in the wrong places. Where were you when Wall Street was gobbling up all of our money? My generation will be out of here soon. You’ll be stuck with your own mistakes.

  • How exciting to relive the landing on the moon! I definitely will watch this reenactment. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were AWESOME!!! I was only 14 years old at the time and I remember the Moon Landing/Moon Walk. What a great day for science and for our country. In no way was it fake. I feel sorry for those people who can’t share in our Countries achievements.
