Web Video News Consolidation: Tubefilter Acquires Tilzy.tv
L.A.-based web series news and reviews site Tubefilter has acquired the N.Y. based web series news and reviews site Tilzy.tv. Both companies are private and terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Tubefilter is also giving its crew grown-up titles: co-founder Brady Brim-DeForest is now CEO, co-founder Drew Baldwin is senior vice president, product, and co-founder Marc Hustvedt is senior vice president and editor-in-chief. Tilzy.tv co-founders Jamison Tilsner and Joshua Cohen will work out of Tubefilter’s New York office and become Tubefilter’s COO and CIO, respectively.
The coupling of these two sites isn’t too surprising. Tubefilter and Tilzy worked together to create the International Academy of Web Television and put on the first annual Streamy Awards this year. Plus, with both covering basically the same beat, it makes sense to consolidate instead of fighting over the same audience.
Now they can just fight with us.
We kid! We kid!
We’ve worked a bunch with both teams and they’re all great guys. Congrats!
